Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park is a heaven for all the wildlife aficionados. The park is a beautiful treasure trove embracing wealth of nature in its bosom. The National Park stands out for its exotic flora and fauna collection. In the year 1957, the Ranthambore National Park was declared as a wildlife sanctuary, and in 1974 it was given the protection of “Project Tiger”. It was in 1981 that it was declared as a National Park. The National Park has been luring travellers from far and wide.

Attractions

One of the most prominent attractions here is the Ranthambore Fort, which is the wonder of the Chauhan dynasty. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the fort raises up to a height of 700ft which makes it look imposing.

Another popular attraction here is the Trinetra Ganesh Temple, which is popular among the Hindu pilgrims visiting the Park. Dedicated to the entire family of Lord Ganesha, the temple remains soaked in spirituality. A total of five aartis are held here every day.

Those seeking peace visit the Surwal Lake and the Padam Lake situated in the National Park. Not just their pristine beauty, but the lakes attract travellers for it offers great opportunities to spot wild animals that flock here to quench their thirst for water.

Going on the Tiger’s Trail ? The major attraction of Ranthambore National Park remains the Royal Bengal Tiger. Some of the interesting wildlife spotted in Ranthambore are Leopard, Jungle cat, Fishing cat, Caracal and predators such as Sloth Bear, Jackal, Striped Hyena, Palm civet, Desert fox, crocodile, common mongoose, python, etc Varied species of deer like antlers (two kinds), sambhar, chital (spotted deer) and antelopes (two kinds), nilgai or bluebull and chinkara or Indian Gazelle are also found in Ranthambore.

How to Reach

By Air: Jaipur is the closest airport for Ranthambore National Park. From Jaipur, travellers can either hire car or take bus services to reach the Park which is located just 180 km away.
By Rail: The nearest railway station is Sawai Madhopur which is well linked to other major cities of India.
By Road: Road travel is also a great option as Rajasthan road network offers seamless connectivity to all the neighbouring states.
